Bleh. I got 2 more hate mails, but they aren't as bad. and I didnt reply to them because I had a TON of neomails and I was really busy... so... yeah x.X Also, On my userlookup, it says I have 16 Neopian Times trophies, but when you look me up in the neopian times page, it says I only have 15 thingies! And I didn't send anything to be in the NT this week, and last week my 15th piece was published... weird |

I've found that hatemailers do what they do for one of three reasons: 1. because they're aggravated about something and you've struck them as an easy target to have a nice loud pointless argument with. And if things get out of hand, they can report you and feel like they accomplished something and found an outlet for their anger. 2. because they percieve themselves as better than you and want to make sure you know it. These are the ones who usually block you before you can reply to make sure you can't point out the holes in their "flawless logic". 3. because they are jealous of something you have done/are doing that they either have failed at or know they could never do. So rather than ignore you, they'd rather shoot you down and try to get you to stop doing what you do. In other words the "if I can't have it, nobody can" approach. The key point to remember with all flamers is that THEY are the monkeys throwing poo at the plexiglass wall and YOU are the kid wearing the gator hat and holding the foil balloon laughing. The solution is to STAY OUTSIDE THE BARS. Just as you would never climb into a cageful of turd-tossing chimps, don't lower yourself to the flamer's level (unless you are making fun of them) or you will lose all leverage. For the first method of flamer (the angry-and-wanna-argue flamer) what drives them insane is to either completely ignore them or to kill them with kindness. No matter how nasty they get, no matter how pointless their flaming, be liberal with smilies and talk about positive things...offer them an omelette. Eventually they will get frustrated that you are giving them nothing to fuel their fire and will either block you or just stop mailing you. And if nothing else, if their frustration gets out of control, it gives YOU a nice harrassment report  The holier-than-thou flamer's main pet peeve is, not only having all of their rock-solid points yanked out from underneath them but to fail to get the last word in on an argument. What will aggravate them to no end is to write a calm and explanatory letter on a secondary account to their flaming (if their neomail is blocked, send them a battledome challenge with a shortened version of your letter instead, and then refuse to accept it...make sure challenges are blocked on your end so they won't start a challenge-war when you refuse), disproving every point they've made against you, make a few derogatory observations back at them about THEIR behavior and then block them on both your main account and secondary as well so they can't retort, leaving them to stew with the idea that not only did you effectively get the last word, but you also made it known that you find them less-than-perfect. For the jealous flamer, be sure to give them a pat on the back and inform them that not *everybody* can be a writer/artist but that they should keep looking for *their* special something and meanwhile, you'll be sure to keep working hard on your output for the Times because its people like them that remind you that you have a rare talent. They will likely then reply saying something mean about how you have a big ego. To this, tell them that there is a difference between having a big ego and simply being proud of what you do...you do not consider yourself the best, but you DO recognize that you do something that others enjoy and you want to share it. If they persist, say something to the effect of "Well I'm sorry you feel that way, but I'd have to say I know my own motivations better than you do and that your accusations don't define them at all. Sorry! Thanks for reading anyway! " and block them. |
