You know those little faces that everybody loves? The ones that show a character and can help you get an idea of what they're feeling? Have you ever wanted to take a look at the different expressions for a character, but had trouble because you had no idea what the name was for the expression you wanted? Well, now you can get a chance to view them to your heart's content. Welcome to the Smiley Gallery! If you want to create your own exhibit, please list your common expressions and include an example smiley for each. It's also suggested that you include a list of your (non-secret) characters and include notes on anything that's special for them. Feel free to include any other information that you think may be useful, such as explanations for your naming formatting. Remember to put your exhibits in spoiler boxes. I started making these back when we still used the word filters to insert custom smileys, so the formatting is based off of what was used then. I've never changed it, and now, it would be ridiculous to do so. First off, the smilies are all held in this area, or a subfolder thereof: i51.photobucket.com/albums/f362/DPTDTKF/Smileys/All characters, except for Omni, are in a subfolder based on their identity. For Example, Aizen is in the 'Aizen' subfolder. Remember to include the '/'. Secondly, every set has an initial (or two or three) at the beginning of the file name. This is usually based off of the character's name and is always lowercase. I consider it their 'code.' Third is the expression-word. These are all-lowercase, except to indicate a new word (instead of using a space), or for expressions such as ' '. Finally, nearly all files are '.gif' files. Also, I have been overhauling as many sets as I can lately. Changes in sets are to be expected in the next while. If you want to see the old version of their set, include the subfolder 'Old' (capital 'O') before the smiley file, and after the character subfolder. Again, remember the '/'. Bear in mind that not all characters have even all of the expressions, due to facial features or other things. Also, remember that these aren't always used based on what their name is. Common (or becoming common): Image: | Usual name: | Text equivalent (if applicable): | Notes: | | neutral | | Everyone has one except Omni. Sigma's tends to be used for mild confusion. Often typo'd as 'neural' or 'netural.' | | smile | | | happy | ^_^ | | hehheh | ^_^; | Not available on non-organic characters. | | mad | | Bass' 'neutral' expression is his mad expression. | | frust | >_< / >.< | | wince | o.< | | tense | | | -_- | -_- | | | right | >_> | *Omni and Infran face the other way. | | left | <_< | *Omni and Infran face the other way. | | lol | ^o^ | A few sets have 'laugh.' This is usually extra. | | eksdee | XD | | wink | / ^_~ | | /-/uhh | / o.o | 'Uhh…' is becoming most common. | | huh | ? / | Kind of a blank stare. Omni's 'huh?' is actually a 'conf' expression. | | conf | ? / | Aizen has 'huhE' as a duplicate. | | drowsy | sometimes ): | General lack-of-energy. Some have a duplicate with a different name. | | cry | )': / ;_; | Not available on non-organic characters. (Except for MegaMan, where it's more like he's wailing.) | | bang | ! | Add 'd' or 't' before 'bang' to make 'double' or 'triple.' Add 'm' before any of those for a 'mad bang' (where applicable). |
Less common: Image: | Usual name: | Text equivalent (if applicable): | Notes: | | smirk | | Usually only used for more devious, snarky, or spunky characters. | | talk | | For Navigators only. Meant to represent them talking over their headset-radio, usually to give a warning or something. | | smug | | See 'smirk.' | | no2thGrin | | Usually on more cheery characters. | | evilSmile | > | Not always used for 'evil.' Spunky characters have it under a different name, but I kept forgetting whether it was 'alright' or 'ohYeah,' so now I just use 'evilSmile' because it's easy to remember. | | yeah | | Used to be 'ohYeah,' but I kept confusing that with 'alright.' | | pleased | | Generally used by calmer, more-serene characters. |

My smilies are horribly messed up so here goes. This is any character in my PhoenixWright/smilies folder. By far the most inconsistent of them all, so here goes. Character namesPhoenix Edgey Maya Gumshoe Pearl Fran Mia VK Gregory Ema Larry Apollo Trucy Klavier As a general rule, the sets start with the expressions I think they'll need (generally based off their in-game expressions) and then I add on whatever else I end up needing as I go, thus the extreme inconsistencies. Also, I tend to pick names based off the personality for certain characters, ergo... we are about to embark on a wild adventure. HOWEVER for the most part, the naming standards remain the same, so here's the names to look for. Note that not all characters have the following expressions. - (name)_neutral.gif
(name)_srsface.gif
- (name)_happy.gif - This is one of the ones that varies for each character. Usually it's a default smile, though Edgey's is and Gumshoe's is
- (name)_smile.gif - Usually this looks as shown here, but for the aforementioned characters with different _happy expressions, it's just a regular smile. Edgey's (rarely used) equivalent of this one is _joy.
- (name)_cheery.gif - Some characters have a similar expression listed as _laugh.
- (name)_laugh.gif - As previously mentioned, for some characters this looks more like _cheery.
- (name)_joy.gif - As previously mentioned, Edgey's _joy expression is different. And Gumshoe's is
- (name)_smug.gif - Usually this looks as shown here, but for Fran it's
- (name)_smirk.gif - Only Fran, VK and Klavier have this.
- (name)_oops.gif - Only Phoenix and Apollo have this.
- (name)_aw.gif
- (name)_heh.gif
- (name)_angry.gif/(name)_glare.gif - For most characters, this expression is listed as _angry, but for Phoenix, Edgey and VK, it is _glare. VK and Larry have a different _angry expressions.
- (name)_grr.gif - Only Phoenix, Edgey and Apollo have this. For some other characters, _grr looks more like instead. For Edgey and Apollo, said expression is listed as _ngh. Klavier's _ngh looks like the originally mentioned version of _grr. ~Confusing~
- (name)_sad.gif - Some characters look down for this expression. For those characters, they generally also have _frown, which does not look down. Larry has a different _sad expression.
- (name)_cry.gif - Some characters have never gotten this expression, just because I can't bear to make them cry. XD; (Not that the opportunity doesn't come up sometimes, because it does.)
- (name)_nuuu.gif - Only Maya and Mia have this.
- (name)_hrm.gif - Basically this is a :/ expression.
- (name)_shock.gif - Some characters also have _wide as just wide eyes, depending on what their _shock expression looks like.
- (name)_sigh.gif
- (name)_confused.gif - Edgey also has _eyebrow as a milder version of _confused.
- (name)_ugh.gif
- (name)_tongue.gif - Only Phoenix and Apollo have this.
- (name)_rolleyes.gif - Only Phoenix and Edgey have this expression. (Probably because it's annoying to animate. )
- (name)_meep.gif
- (name)_dead.gif - For Mia, this is listed as _faint.
- (name)_cool.gif - Obligatory sunglasses pose.
- (name)_zzz.gif
- (name)_shadow.gif - For mysteriousness.
- (name)_objection.gif - Only attorneys have this expression. Fun fact: defense attorneys turn left, while prosecutors turn right.
- (name)_point.gif - Just _objection without the text. :U
- (name)_badge.gif - Only attorneys have this expression, though most of them are less ridiculous than Phoenix's.
- (name)_aura.gif - A smiley that doesn't really see use, I just felt like making it. Most characters have this.
Some expressions unique to certain characters are as follows: - Phoenix_magatama.gif
- Phoenix_fire.gif
- Edgey_stun.gif
- Edgey_bow.gif
- Edgey_sword.gif
- Edgey_zombie.gif - Joke smiley.
- Edgey_dino.gif - Joke smiley.
- Edgey_cat.gif - Joke smiley.
- Edgey_afro.gif - Joke smiley.
- Edgey_ondrugs.gif - Joke smiley. (Poor Edgey has a lot. XD)
- Maya_playful.gif
- Maya_channel.gif
- Gumshoe_fear.gif
- Pearl_glee.gif
- Pearl_worry.gif
- Pearl_bawl.gif
- Pearl_angel.gif - Used for Halloween 2010.
- Fran_rage.gif
- Fran_whip.gif
- Mia_bow.gif
- Mia_bot.gif - Joke(?) smiley.
- VK_grin.gif
- VK_kitten.gif - Very joke smiley. *trollface*
- Gregory_oh.gif
- Gregory_wince.gif - Closest I could get to _dead/_faint with those glasses. XD;
- Gregory_bot.gif - Joke(?) smiley.
- Gregory_skype.gif - Joke smiley.
- Ema_cool.gif - Technically not unique, but BEHOLD THE POWER OF SCIENCE.
- Ema_cat.gif - Joke smiley.
- Larry_thumbsup.gif
- Larry_green.gif - Joke smiley.
- Apollo_ondrugs.gif - Joke smiley.
- (name)_sorrow.gif
- Klavier_dragon.gif - Joke smiley.
- Klavier_green.gif - I... I'm not really sure
LASTLY some characters have extra sets for special circumstances. :U - Gumshoe_wolf.gif - For extra expressions, try Gumshoe_wolf_(expression).gif
- Gregory_hat_(expression).gif
- Trucy_nohat_expression.gif - Also look out for MrHat.gif!
I said that was lastly but it wasn't! Anyway, Mia also has sets for when she is being channeled by Maya or Pearl. :U - Maya_Mia.gif - For extra expressions, try Maya_Mia_(expression).gif
- Pearl_Mia.gif - For extra expressions, try Pearl_Mia_(expression).gif
Philippa without her hood is Philippa_2.gif or Philippa_2_(expression).gif There's also some miscellaneous other smilies scattered about but it would take way too long to explain the "rules" for them, so I won't bother. XD;

The very first time I brought a character in, (which was Snakeman), I was lazy and just ended up using his in-game sprite as opposed to making a set. Since he's from the NES-era this wasn't too much of a problem as the sprite was pretty small and pretty simple. I continued this trend as I started to add more Robot Master characters, but soon I started to want to add characters whose in-game sprites either wouldn't be suitable for use on the forum due to size or didn't exist at all, so I ended up making some sets after all. So, here's a list of characters who don't have their own set: - Snakeman
- Quickman
- Flashman
- Crashman
- Airman
- Metalman
- Sheepman
- Microwaveman
- Potpourriman
- Geminiman
- Knightman
- Woodman
- Heatman
- Magnetman
- Nitroman
- Bubbleman
- Needleman
- Fireman
These characters do have their own sets: - Byron
- Chip
- Frio
- Terra
- Mercury
- Jupiter
- Bianca
Note that while Terra, Mercury and Jupiter do have in-game sprites, I ended up not using them because they were Gameboy sprites rather than NES ones and I didn't really like how they looked, so I ended up making them sets instead. Their sets also differ from the others as they are more like busts. This was initially done because of Terra's rather poofy hairstyle, and I sorta liked how it looked, so I continued to do this with the others. The only problem with it is that those with large shoulderplates, like Jupiter, have to be cut somewhat so their smilies aren't too wide. At one point I decided to get the old robot master sprites I'd been using and revamp them, so I guess this is a little spot where I get to show that off. At the time of writing however, they aren't quite all complete yet. Here they are, in the order they are on my roll: Snakeman Quickman Flashman Crashman Airman Metalman Sheepman Microwaveman (credit to Icon for the original sprite and the subsequent revamp) Potpourriman (credit to Icon for the original sprite and the subsequent revamp) Geminiman Knightman Woodman Heatman Magnetman Nitroman Bubbleman Needleman Fireman While these guys don't have their own sets, some of them do have alternate sprites. These don't follow any specific naming pattern however and more often than not are just the original url but with a "2" or "3" or something added on the end. - _armless - used when Quick lost his arm after falling off a giant laser firing centipede (don't ask).
- _hole - used when Flash's stopper had a hole blasted in it by previously mentioned giant centipede. (...Again. Don't ask.)
- _armless - used when Flash's arm was cut off.
- _stopper - was originally used whenever Flash froze time, but doesn't see much use nowadays.
- _armless - used when Metal's arm was torn off. (Seems to be a trend going on here.)
- 2 - only ever used once, in the Character Arena.
- 2 - has yet to be used.
- 2 - used to represent Gemini's clone whenever he makes it.
- 2-1 - used whenever Heat ignites himself. The weird name was caused by there already being something called Heatman2 in my Photobucket account when it was uploaded.
- 3 - used whenever Heat's lid is closed.
- 2 - one of Nitro's alternate form sprites.
- 3 - one of Nitro's alternate form sprites.
- 4 - one of Nitro's alternate form sprites.
As some of you may have noticed, Terra and Mercury's sets look different nowadays to how they've looked in the previous posts. This is because one day I recoloured one of Terra and Mercury's sprites so they resembled their Gigamix appearances out of boredom, though at the time I had no intention of using them. Then on the Taco one day Scrac came up with an excuse for me to be able to use them, so I made a few more expressions for those particular sets, though because I wasn't expecting them to be used for very long, the naming pattern consists of g1, g2, g3 etc. I ended up deciding to keep these Gigamix looks because I prefer them to the originals and somehow I find the naming system easier to remember (and there's also less chance of me making a typo while editing urls), so all subsequently added Stardroids follow this naming system. The sprites are as follows. Terra: - _g
- _g2
- _g3
- _g4
- _g5
- _g6
- _g7
- _g8
- _g9 (basically, run)
- _g10
Mercury: - _g
- _g2
- _g3
- _g4
- _g5
- _g6
- _g7
- _g8 (note that this was the last sprite I made for this set and I didn't have any plans on adding any new ones at the time. Subsequently though I did end up making more and in a sort of random order, so the regular and liquid-y sprites aren't separate from each other.)
- _g9
- _g10
- _g11
- _g12
- _g13 (totally a creepysmileplz *brick'd*)
- _g14
- _CreeperMercury (this was just a joke smiley and won't be used for anything, unless Mercs randomly decides to take on the form of a Creeper for whatever reason. :B)
Jupiter: - _g1 (since his set started off as his Gigamix appearance, he doesn't have a _g)
- _g2
- _g3
- _g4
- _g5
- _g6 (god help you if you ever see this one)
- _g7
- _g8
