Merpo's lab -> Beaverly Hills (pun intentional)
Mercifully, it took very little time for the blarf's tentacle to move the captain (and Nasue, by extension) onto its back. There was one moment when the huge black thing was staring at the coati; she froze, instinctively clutching the tentacle harder. Then that moment passed, and once Huntress had been dropped onto the blarf's back, Nasue quickly followed, letting herself slide off and land a fairly short distance from the captain.
As the blarf kinda-sorta ran out of the mansion, she noticed that her headache was clearing up. Now she only had to worry about her ribs, which were still likely cracked (if not broken)... and the attacker... and the Underdeep problem... and, now that she thought about it, why the headaches were acting so bizarrely... but at least she could think.
But there was precious little time to do so. Before she knew it, they were out in Tabloid Town, at night - I was out that long?! - and now there was a dragon bearing down on them. And the headache was returning.
Perhaps it was just as well that the coati had tensed up and was shaking in fear, because the dragon opened its mouth - and then the blarf's tentacles were pressed sharply downwards. So was she. There was some wild shaking, with Nasue grabbing and holding tightly for her precious life, and then...
Well, there was some sort of noise. Up ahead, the coati could hear a pair of voices - the captain and her pet blue critter.
"I am what you are. They are mine. Do not cross me."
That... does not sound good. She whimpered softly. Don't panic. Don't panic. Don't panic...

((Tabloid Town))
Shade got to the ambassadorial quarters without incident, which is quite a marvel. She managed to get to her room, divest herself of excess gear, put on her studded leather armour, and even almost got out the door again before Sariphe’s messenger found her. Shade listened. And then she went, “I get it. Go away.” And she shoved her way past the messenger and started heading back to the streets. Just before she managed that, another messenger-looking person stopped her. This one seemed more scared than anything else, which meant something interesting was certainly going on somewhere. Shade stopped for just long enough to glare.
“Sir – ma’am – there’s a disturbance in the rich neighborhoods, and...” The servant’s voice trailed off with his eyes. Shade shook him, and he seemed to regain his senses. “You’re the least likely to die from going to see why there’s a monster – maybe two – up there.”
Shade eyed the servant. And then muttered a curse and started running. Behind her, she could hear the servant shouting after her, trying to get confirmation or denial of the fact that she was going towards the monsters. She was. She just wished she had her wings back so that she could fly there and know for sure when she was in the right place. Lucky her that even just looking at the now-dark sky was enough to see a dragon – the outline looked familiar, but Shade couldn’t place it – diving towards something she couldn’t see. Shade started running faster, doing her best to lock the position of the dragon’s dive in her mind so that she might actually reach the right place before they left.
((Post mostly as a 'yes I'm rejoining this madness', really. Tomorrow I'll join the battle, probably. Or later today, if things are moving fast enough.))

Post by Fraze on Dec 31, 2009 14:49:09 GMT -5
((The Hills Are Alive With the Sound of Beavers)) Shortly before the blarf set off, Fraze hopped down and got on the spacebike, deactivating the self-destruct override. For one thing, he didn't want to leave a highly advanced piece of Spacefleet technology just sitting out somewhere in Tabloid Town, especially when it had been primed to explode if anyone other than he had tried to ride it. For another thing, he had a nagging feeling that the attacker would try to come after them. She had seemed to be enjoying the fight way too much to let them simply walk away, and he felt far more comfortable fighting on this vehicle than the blarf. There was a horrendous noise, and Fraze turned around to see the house collapse. "Shrike's thorns," he muttered, not using a more colorful expression only because a conveniently placed crowd of schoolchildren just so happened to be within earshot and was watching the proceedings with awe. As they were heading toward the Pirates' ship, he did a mental headcount, and realized that Amneiger was missing. "Amnei," he said into his helmet comm. "Amnei, where are you?" Nothing, not even static. It was as though the line was dead. "'Fleet computer security, this is Commander Fraze. Do you read me?" Still nothing. This wasn't good. At all. That hacker probably did this. Too many things all coming up at once. Deal with them one at a time. One at a time. Well, here was the easiest thing to deal with. Fraze switched to short-range communications. This way, the comm would work more like a walkie-talkie than a cell phone, sending signals directly to the receiving unit rather than having them routed through the 'Fleet network. "Amnei, where are you? Are you all right? The comm system seems to be down, so I'm using short-range now."
...Was that a dragon chasing them?
Yes, that was a dragon chasing them. "I'm sorry, I'll have to get back to you. Our attacker, uh, changed forms.
Wonderful, aerial attack. This was one area Fraze felt particularly confident in. He had a great deal of experience in zero-g melee and projectile weapons combat. The principles of atmospheric combat were mostly the same; the only major difference here was the definite existence of a "down" and an "up." With the swift press of a few buttons, Fraze shifted the spacebike to hands-free. Miniature force fields clamped down around his ankles, holding him in place and preventing him from falling off if he went upside-down. Now he could steer, rotate along all three axes, and accelerate and decelerate, just by twisting his body. It wouldn't be quite as effective as a hoverboard or, even better, something like Strife's old rocket boots, but it would do. "Woo-hoo-hooooo!" He felt the rush as the enemy approached. Oh, how he had missed this these past months, sitting at a desk signing papers. Visits to the holodeck for training simulations just wasn't the same. He had never considered himself bloodthirsty--far from it--but this near-complete freedom of movement and the thrill of speed was intoxicating. Thankfully, he had a very high tolerance level. Years of training and field experience had taught him to be careful and analytical, even through the thrill.
First, find the best point of attack. That was easy enough. The thing was massive, it would need those wings to stay airborne. So, go for the wings first. Next, find the best angle. The wings didn't seem all that thick, the plasma rifle would shoot straight through them and might harm bystanders. The flechette gun would turn the wings into so much bloody tissue paper and cause damage to anything and everything within their spread on the ground. So, shooting down wasn't an option.
Up, then.
From his position some hundred feet above the surface, Fraze dove in near-freefall until he was below the dragon's altitude. Bending back, he had the spacebike rotate him to a supine position. He approached the oncoming dragon, grabbed the flechette gun--with a vauge realization that it was still vibrating--and as it passed over him, shot. He was aiming in the vague direction of the creature's right wing, but aim didn't really matter. There was the characteristic "floomph" sound, almost like a pillow thrown onto a bed, but now accompanied by a bright purple flash. The recoil was far more than usual, Fraze felt like the gun had just shot a small cannonball. So whatever power had infused the gun back during the Gem war had returned. If that was the case, the shot would have been even more destructive than usual. Last time, it had torn halfway through a giant ice worm.

Brassport Assembly Hall Lalalalalala!
“Dirty scumbag! Stinking, rotten coward!” Sarn was about to shout a few more malicious insults at the retreating back of the man but his attention was turned back to the giant glass golems, all jagged and ferocious who were now being assailed by several citizens who had heard Sarn’s command.
Above the heads of the crowd came a cry, louder than it needed to be, overly dramatic and only a tiny bit heroic. The man whom Sarn had spat insults at was swinging from the chandelier with a petite woman clutched in his free arm. Sarn noted with some derision that the man seemed to be missing his pants but then his mind, slow with the pains that still wracked his body, finally registered the words he had said.
“… Lady Sarinon …”
That was all that got through to the Feberi. Sarinon. That was her clutched in that man’s arms. He had left the fight to save her and that, in Sarn’s books, made him the bravest hero ever born. He saw the man deposit his sister on the other side of the mezzanine and then swing down behind one of the golems. Sarn saw him hit the back of a woman, saw her skid across the ground, dropping something long and thin as she did so. And then he saw a woman near Lady Ro who picked it up.
It was a mage wand.
Storing this piece of important plot information, Sarn returned his mind to his task, blocking out all the noise and thoughts of the hall and touched the Star Dance. Instinct took over as his wings arched, his chin lifted and his arms spread wide. He opened his mouth and let out a great rush of song like a mighty river. The whole hall shook with the reverberating sound of his voice until two great founts of water sprang up, each surrounding one golem.
The song turned hard and bitter as the raging waters began to cloud over, making little smashing and chinking noises as huge sheets of ice formed all over each glass monolith , then coalesced into a single berg, solid and crystalline clear, encasing the golems totally.
That done, Sarn’s lost energy took it’s toll and he collapsed onto the floor, managing to stay in a sitting position, but not much else. He noticed the woman who still carried the wand and prayed that his guess was wrong … prayed that the mages had not visited this terror upon the city of his birth. He prayed that the woman who had been knocked over wasn’t a member of his own guild.
Stretching out his pale hand, he beckoned to the woman. “Pass me that wand, dear lady. It is dangerous.”
Guess
Sarinon ran only a short way before she grew exhausted. She paused, slouching slightly as her body erupted into stabs of pain and, though she fought it, a few tears leaked from her brilliant eyes. She brushed them away and tried to reorient herself but there was nothing she could use to help her find her way. She couldn’t hear her brother anymore and she had foolishly left Emily behind when she had torn off into the crowd. Mentally berating herself for her idiocy wasn’t going to do her much good.
From above her, there came an ominous grating sound. She looked up helplessly, trying to see what it was that tinkled maliciously at her, savoring her fear, but all she could see were odd patches of light and all else was blurred. She froze up, unsure what to do, where to run or how to deal with this situation. Again, she cursed her impulsive action. A result of her father’s Feberi blood, no doubt.
A swishing sound … something strong around her waist … a mildly heroic voice in her ear. Her heart leapt until she heard the ringing tones of Oscar, Gentleman Adventurer. He proclaimed himself her savior, flew through the air with her and let her down on what Sarinon came to realize was the balcony above the hall.
“Why are you so angry?”
“That idiot took me further away from Sarn.”
“He saved you from danger.”
“Because he wants to bed me.”
“But he risked his life. Surely that means he’s not only out to fulfill his own goals. He must have some honour about him.”
“He’s … I’m …”
“The only reason you’re so angry is because you are determined to hate him. He brings out the malevolent part of you like no one else can. He is the only person thus far that you have not been your usual self with. You wanted to hate him and now that he’s done something to earn your respect, you’re angry.”
“I …”
“You’re doing exactly what Sarn would do … exactly what you would disapprove of in anyone else.”
The little voice in her head was right. Sarinon hung her head in shame at her own hypocrisy and resolved to put a bridle on her fiery side as she normally would. There were more important things happening right now. Like the presence of spellsong. Sarn’s spellsong.
Quickly wrapping her hand around the guard rail, Sarinon guided herself along the mezzanine in the direction of Sarn’s melodies. She fumbled her way cautiously down the staircase and decided to sacrifice her dignity by leaning down and feeling around in front of her to find her way safely toward her brother.
His spellsong ended with one last note and the sound of a crack and then she saw a flash of gold. She called out his name, excitement and deep joy flowing through her as she managed, at long last, to stoop down by her brother’s side and throw her arms around him, burying her face into his chest and sobbing like a little girl. He wrapped both his arms and wings around her, stroking her hair and back gently. She could feel his body shaking with silent sobs and they just sat on the ground clinging to each other and hoping to never let go.
His gentle voice reached her ears as she lay her head on his shoulder. “My vixen. I have found you.”

<<Brassport: Assembly Hall>> -Asta-
Fountains of water. From the floor. Asta backed off quickly, noting that the lady knight by her--Ro, was it?--did the same. Only with a lot more agility and a lot less trying not to stumble over the edge of a coat.
“Pass me that wand, dear lady. It is dangerous.”
Asta turned and raised a brow, opening her mouth to ask why she should do anything of the sort and who was this winged person who had just...
Wait. What was that he'd done, anyway? With the water...no, ice now, and the glass creatures...He's injured, she noted, and remnants of adrenaline left her trying to piece everything together in rapid succession. He helped us. He's not from here--those wings are amazing!--but he's helped. And he looks like he might know what he's doing. The woman looked at the winged person, collapsed on the floor. Sarinon's loud cry made her turn around, and the woman flew past her and latched onto the downed knight, soon wrapped in wings.
The Assembly Hall was a wreck, the golems were frozen, there were a bunch of people she didn't know who could do things she'd never heard of and couldn't imagine, she had a telepathic bird who spoke English at her side, and there was a crying pair lying in front of her in a completely confusing, if touching, reunion. Right. Had that made sense, Asta would have done something, but as it was, she just stood there awkwardly.
A tug at her hand, and Asta whirled around in surprise and a shot of panic as she felt the bone wand lifted from her hand. "You are not in the condition to do anything," Ro said sharply, ignoring the woman she'd just taken it from. Still talking to her companion, voice cutting the air, she continued, "I'll hold it, for now."
Asta glared, as if hoping to bore holes into the lady knight's skull by doing so. She took no notice, and the alchemist reached for it unsuccessfully. With a grimace, she stepped back and folded her arms, not about to let this turn into a humiliating game of keep-away.
-Ro-
Well, Asta was unhappy, but so be it. Ro didn't let it show on her face, but she could feel a sight pressure coming from the wand. Either it was the artifact itself, or the person who'd held it, but it made her stomach turn all the same. Dark magic? she wondered, hand tightening around the wand. Either way, she wasn't about to let the mage get her hands on it again.
Speaking of which. Mage. Allianne's guild...
No, that didn't mean that her cousin was involved in this. There were people, she knew, who were mages or magic-users, or otherwise odd, without being associated with the Mages guild. Or those who were allied with multiple groups. One mage, one wand, didn't mean anything about who or what was involved in the chaos that had erupted here.
She'd make note of it all the same. The next time she saw Aly, the mage definitely wasn't getting away without giving some answers.

((Town of the 'Bloidal Persuasion, Beaver Hills district))
Everything happened very quickly, like dominos clattering down. First, the strange man from the lab suddenly sprung into action. He flew up towards Celestial as she dove and she caught the scent of some sort of fuel from his boots. They smelt different, contrasting with the scent of coal and steam coming from the device he was holding. He had been to Brassport but he didn't originate from it. Spacefleet then. Only they had that kind of technology. However, niether of the 'Fleeters back there had shown anything towards him. Who was this guy?
"Drink rubber!" he cried out and swung the motorbike at her throat. There was no time to think. He swung out of the way but could not get out of her dive. It tore at her leg, sending scales and blood raining down onto the street. But just as before, the body puppeted around by the Underdeep did not respond to pain, instead letting the soul cry out.
A person flew past her, one of the pirates. The dragon grinned and caught her in mid-air with her claws and batted her aside like an annoying fly. The dragon grinned savagely.
I did not want to kill anyone. I'm sorry!
The kraken-thing had blocked her shockwave with its tentacles, which didn't come as much of a surprise to Celestial. It jumped to the side and the dragon swooped up, coming out of her dive. As she climbed back up, she heard the blarf scream something at her. While everyone on the ground and Celestial was confused, the Underdeep understood what he said.
"I am what you are. They are mine. Do not cross me" he roared at her. The dragon stopped and hovered above the ground, seeming to supress a laugh. But she was looking at the Blarf intently.
"While that may be true, child, your purpose and mine contradict. I'll fight you for them and I won't be afraid to do so. I can afford to do so in fact," she replied to him and unleashed another shockwave at the Blarf and all his riders.
However, another problem came at her from the sky. A 'Fleeter was coming towards Celestial on some device which she could only recognise as Sci-Fi technology. He aimed at her with something else and shot, the incapacitating shot heading towards her wing.
The Underdeep was merciless but it was not stupid. It knew how to be efficient and when to sacrifice a chance with the knowledge that this sacrifice would lead to more chances.
In an instant, the dragon was replaced by Celestial in her human form. She was hovering using the wings on her back. However, this was not enough. The Underdeep had to protect its messenger, no matter how much it fed on her fears.
It poured of out Celestial's eyes like water from a mountain spring and formed a shield on her right side which would be hit by the gun's blast. It absorbed the energy into itself, using it to stick together as the physical projectile tore through it. Much of the shot however flew right past the girl. All the while, pain ripped through her soul as the Underdeep streamed past and out of her eyes.
How wonderful, to have such an opportunity.
The dragon mage took advantage of being in her human form, knowing the second shockwave was heading towards the Blarf anyway. The man sped past her and she began manipulating the air currents above and beneath him, creating a tornado which reached down from the clouds and right towards him. Celestial herself flew away as quickly as possible and landed on the roof of a house to await their next move.
"Your turn," she whispered.
((Of course it's their turn, this is a roleplay, you ni- oh yeah, lay low and wait. Got it.))
((Brassport))
The girl reacted just as he expected, with disbelief, but better than most people do when they realise that a Weewoo is speaking to them telepathically. She created a pouch for him to hide in but Overlord flew up and hovered at the level of her eyes.
I can't hide. We have to get out of here while- he said to her in her mind. However, as soon as the golem attacked he changed his mind and climbed into the pouch.
You have to get out of here, as quickly as possible. Go for the nearest exit, please. Fighting here is no use when the main conflict is elsewhere he whispered in her mind, pleading.
((Lazy Overlord post is lazy. xD))

Beaver Hills OW. Owowowow. Oooooow. Jina had landed in a fruit vendor's cart after being knocked aside by the dragon. It had broken her fall, quite painfully.
Okay, come on, Jina. If it was as bad as you thought you'd be dead by now. She picked herself up.
Jina pulled off her cloak, pulled out the remaining bottles of chloroform, hiding them under the broken cart. She the twisted the cloak, turning it into a rope. She tied a dagger to each end. Then she looked up.
The mage was back in human form, heading for the roof of a house right next to Jina. Keeping her distance? Maybe she's not so good at close range combat. In which case, if I can get close to her...
Jina looked at the wall of the house the mage was on. Oh goodie, a drainpipe. She started climbing up, keeping silent, but also being fairly quick. When she reached the top, she swung up, being careful to make sure the mage could not have noticed her.
Thanking the fact that it was dark, she started crawling towards the mage. Then, when she was close, she swung her cloak around Celestial, grabbed the end as it came around, pulled hard, and wrapped herself right around the mage. She tried to stab Celestial with her daggers, just for extra grip. Try throwing me out of the sky now.

((The Battle of Beaver Hills))
The spinning wheel of Strife's motorcycle missed his intended target - the neck - but it instead dove right into the dragon's leg. His mouth creeped upwards into a sadistic smile, and his face became lightly painted with dragon blood as he thrusted the wheel as deep as he could into the leg. Eventually, the dragon slipped away, but he was satisfied with the damage.
Strife noticed Fraze flying in his direction and rocketed out of the way, giving room for his current superior to attack. He kept his bike at the ready, clutching it in his right hand like always.
He watched from a safe distance as Fraze launched his flechette gun at the beast. As the needles soared through the air, though, the dragon morphed back into its humanoid form and formed what appeared to be a magical barrier of tears. Interestingly enough, the barrier absorbed the needles heading in the creature's direction. A smaller number of needles missed the barrier and soared off into the distance.
The creature then summoned a tornado to appear where Fraze was and retreated from the sky. While still in its smaller form, it landed on the roof of a nearby house.
Indifferent about the current Commander's fate, Strife rocketed towards the ground and landed with a thud on the pavement of the street. He looked towards the distance, where the demon girl was standing contently on the roof, waiting for him to pull his next move.
As he looked more closely, though, he saw another person try and sneak up behind her. The person tried to strangle her with a cloak, but he couldn't make out the details from this distance.
Strife turned his bike off so that the engine noise wouldn't give away his exact position. Then, within half a second, he left a trail of silhouettes behind him as he teleport-dashed to the house. He couldn't dash up the side of the wall without breaking anything, though, so with one hand, he began to climb the jaggedly-shaped chimney. He climbed slowly and carefully, so as to not interrupt the potentially helpful attacks of the other combatant.

Amneiger's communicator crackled as it relayed Fraze's message. "Commander? I'm stuck under some rubble in the mansion. I'm fine for the moment, but I'm trying to get out of here so that I can get close enough to the Spacep - Oh. I'll just keep trying to get out of here, then."
Amneiger went back to probing the debris around him with his hands, gently pushing it to feel the way the weight was distributed around him. One area seemed to have more give then the others; he began trying to check the rest of rubble around it to make sure that moving it wouldn't crush him.

Post by Huntress on Jan 1, 2010 13:38:07 GMT -5
((Did You Know that the name Beverly supposedly means 'dweller at the beaver meadow'?))
The blarf seemed to be paying full attention to Celestial now, although whether because of the Underdeep or whether because he was expecting another attack is anyone's guess. Either way, when the next shockwave hit, the tentacles were already clamped tightly shut again and the blarf's head was bent down, forming a kind of half-armadillo-ball. Even this seemed to be instinctive more than anything; the blarf was only a little smaller than the dragon and seemed to regard the shockwaves about as dangerous as a strong headwind.
As the hit passed, the kraken uncurled, shook himself like a big dog and turned to look at the progressing battle.
"Brgrarp," he said. Hunty, who was cautiously sitting up on his back now, thought that it sounded an awful lot like a swearword. Thankfully the dragon seemed to be otherwise occupied for now, so this gave some time to come up with a plan of action.
"Chick's busy," Bloody Mary said, apparently harboring a similar train of thought, except on a different railroad. "Might as well use the chance and take a hike."
"Jina's up there," said the captain, still watching the battle above their heads. "Not to mention the rest of the crew still hasn't caught up. No point in going alone."
"I think they're just inactive," the meepit grumbled (and somewhere far away, in a barn near Dunburrow, a figure that'd just barely begun to get up collapsed into dust all of a sudden with a quiet 'aaarghagargh'. Poor fella.) Hunty tapped the blarf on the back.
"Hey, boy?" The creature turned his huge head a little. "Just curious... were you bluffing?"
"Brp," said the blarf, jerking his head a little. That generally meant 'no' but could just as well have been 'don't concern yourself with this'.
Wonderful. Hunty leaned against the base of the nearest tentacle. Crew scattered, singleminded dragon-mage on their backs for whatever underdeepish reason, something big and icky going on in the abovementioned Underdeep, her crossbow had been left behind in the mansion so there was really nothing she could do to help either, not that she expected it to be very effective against an air mage, and now she was feeling rather damsel-in-distressy again. This was turning into a dead end where the only thing she could do was wait, and she really hated waiting.
And they still needed to find- hm, hey. Oh yeah. She'd completely forgotten about her. Might just as well get it done then while everyone else was distracted. How much money did she have left again? ... not too much, but it'd do. She shuffled around, gave a quiet 'ow' as her bruised side reminded of itself again, and dug out a tattered piece of paper with an address on it.
"What street are we currently on, can you see a sign anywhere?" she asked.
"Rodeo Ride, I believe," said the meepit, squinting at a nearby roadsign.
"Ha. Perfect." She gave the piece of paper to Bloody Mary. "Take us to this address, will you? Quietly. It's not far."
The meepit eyed the paper, then gave her a long stare, then shrugged and waded off through the thick black fur in the direction of the blarf's head. A short while later, the blarf also turned his head to give her a long stare, then shrugged and tiptoed off as conspicuously - and effectively - as a ten-ton, six-pawed creature can possibly tiptoe.

((Obligatory pun on the pun of Beaverly Hills))
Something grabbed her from behind, wrapping Celestial in its cloak. One of the pirates trying to protect their captain no doubt. Unfortunately, they forgot one of the most basic rules of battle: if your opponent has weapons, don't let them touch you. And the dragon mage did have two rather sharp claws on her wings, which were now pressed against the attacker.
She felt the points of two daggers just as her claws sank into the person behind her. They ripped and tore into the attacker, scraping against her ribs. At the same time, Celestial unleashed a wave of fire and air at the attacker, forcing them off her and knocking whoever it was back. She felt the daggers pulled out of her body but was not allowed to be distracted by the pain.
The dragon mage leapt free and shot another wall of fire at the person before leaping off the building and into the street below, gliding down using her wings. As she flew past the chimeny she saw the man who slashed at her with the motorbike and knew that she needed to pursue her target, away from here.
She shapeshifted again, causing as much collateral damage as before. The dragon slammed into the house that both her attackers were on, collapsing at least half of it before flying off after the Blarf.
Once she was in the air, she had a little time to think. The cut in her leg ached as well as the dagger wounds but the pain did not stop the dragon, the Underdeep did not let its puppet be hindered. Spawn of Shub-Niggurath and Chtulhu was clearly regarding her shockwaves as mere annoyances (even though technically they could easily demolish buildings and uproot trees. Must have gotten out of practice.) so they would be no good. Niether would attacking head on, there was simply too many spines, plating and tentacles. She had to take him on in order to get to the pirate captain. The 'Fleeter would hopefully rush to her aid but if not, she'd take him out later.
So it would have to be a combined attack.
You can pull it off, you have the power.
I don't want to fight them.
Need I remind you that you have no choice?
The dragon swooped down, landing a short distance away from the blarf. She put her head down, and released another shockwave, one which tore at the houses on their side. This one was certainly strong enough to uproot trees and if she calculated right would flip him over. From there, she'd just have to take her chances.
Following the shockwave, Celestial ran at the Blarf with her claws and teeth bared, hoping to sink them into something which was less spikey.
((Spacefleet Network))
Mother would say "if you can't find a plot, push a plot". Obviously The Author never had a mother because she was a program unless you counted the programmer who made her as a mother. But what if that was a man, what kind of implications would that have? Doesn't matter to the story but there you go. The point is, it was time she forced the plot to move.
There was mention of Cyclops, whoever he was. The Author knew that her writer would not have the motivation to look through all of Guild Wars 2 and was supposed to not know who he was anyway so perhaps it was for the best. But she had to get to the lab somehow. And she had to do it as quietly as possible.
All the little drones in the physical world, not to mention the security cameras all across Spacefleet. The would no doubt be connected to the network and furthermore, could be accessed quietly by just changing the password to let her in and resetting it.
So that's what The Author did. Tracking down the security camera control in the network, she snuck in by changing the password for a few brief moments before reverting it back. From there, she patched into the feed in the labs, keeping an eye out for a guy who, if Hunty's fanart is to be believed, looked a look like Pumbaa in a sci-fi suit of armour.
That shouldn't be hard to find at all so she was free to tempt fate as much as she liked. Haha, fate.

Mage Manor
Kiddo slunk along the wall, closer to the voices. Some distant part of her mind flickered with amusement at the sheer fact she was here, overhearing their conversation, and only one person knew. And hopefully the temporary alliance between the two would keep the Manor itself at bay. She could still feel it, like it was watching her.
"Funny," Kiddo called out, keeping her distance, trying to angle herself so that she could see the wall that had been sealed, "I would have thought mages had the answers. There goes that little myth."
She paused.
"There... might be records... of how the largest of the entrances was sealed... it was so long ago..."
She lapsed into thought, her concentration drifting off into things that seemed to have happened in another life entirely. Maybe it had been a different life - she'd had wings back then, didn't she? It was hard to remember. But the gate had been put in place and then - where HAD they put the records? They'd made plans and there had to be copies of those! Her thoughts suddenly focused. Ninja HQ. It had to be. It made sense. Back then... in the early days... she was their leader. She established their base in the mountains. It was one of the few and only strongholds. She'd surely have put a copy of what had been done in the archives.
Bemused, Kiddo fell into a crouch. It was ironic, in a way, that she could only remember fragments of what had gone on before her time in the Gray Lands and now she was chasing her own tail trying to get answers.

<<On The Road Again! Which We Never Left In The First Place!>>
"My ninja friend has informed me that we will be seeing the town soon. He has also informed me that the hospital will be on the other side of the town." Gil glances over at the ninja, who now sports a pair of goggles, then back to his destination. Within moments the town is in sight, and the vehicle is drive down a town road. Some people scramble out of the way to try and avoid being hit by the large metallic monster that is now tearing down their street. "Hmm, doesn't seem like the streets are made for a thing like this..." One man trying to out run the machine, in front of it, for a few moments before diving to the side for safety.
Gil drives through several parts of the town, right past Beaver Hills, and soon the hospital is in sight.
During the drive Draco stares out the window. "Something has been happening in town... I think I've even seen something happening in the nicer part of town, around the Beaver Hills area, but we went by to fast for me to even tell. Way to rich for my taste, it might be good to see it a little beat up."

Mage Manor Someone else spoke. Owen looked around, but saw nobody there. What, does this place have some secret tunnels?
"There... might be records... of how the largest of the entrances was sealed... it was so long ago..."
"It's not a very good seal if you only did it to one of the entrances. Besides, can't we just try blowing this place to pieces? It might even get rid of whatever it's done to the two mages, if it is at fault in the first place."
Beaver Hills Jina was knocked back by some kind of magic. Her daggers had come out with her. How the... Is she on some kind of pain killer here? She saw the wall of fire coming right at her, and jumped right through it, to avoid staying in the flames too long. Trying to stay close, she threw one of the daggers at the mage. It went into a wound on the mage's leg. Jina held on to the other dagger and swung, but then the mage turned back into a dragon. The dagger came out, and Jina landed in a hedge. Well that could have gone better.
She picked herself up, untied her daggers, and went over to the cart. As she was putting her chloroform back in her cloak, a man approached her sitting in a hovering car-ish thing. "WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY HOUSE?!"
Jina looked at him. "...Me?" She pointed at the dragon. The man's face went pale in record time.
"Listen, does that thing go fast?"
"...What?"
"How fast can that go?"
"Erm... well, it's pretty speedy, but I don't..."
Jina hopped up and held her knife to the man's throat. "Alright, get out." The man held up his hands, and got out of the car. Jina hopped in his seat. "How do you drive this, anyway?"
"Wh-"
"Nevermind, I think I got it. Looks pretty normal."
With that, she sped off.
((This is turning into a car chase.))

((The Battle of Beaver Hills))
Before Strife could reach the roof of the house, the whole thing came crashing down as the creature managed to morph back into its dragon form. He fell off the chimney, and as he landed hard on the grass, he used his psionic powers to stop the rubble that was about to fall on him, pushing it in the other direction instead.
After he got to his feet, he looked towards the distance and saw the dragon flying away with a slight limp. Apparently, changing forms hadn't recovered its injuries. Very good. Also apparent was its desire to chase endlessly after the pirate Captain and the Blarf. Not so good.
The dragon appeared to slam its head into the ground and create shockwaves that demolished nearby houses. Cars and other vehicles on the road were send flying in all sorts of directions, and any vehicle that hadn't been flipped over was now speeding well away from the fight. The distant screaming of sirens could be heard; local law enforcement was on the way. Not that it would do any good.
Strife cursed out of both frustration and fascination. This was the kind of power he had been searching for, and yet he wasn't the one who currently possessed it. A part of him wondered just how far this Underdeep abomination could be pushed, and so, he took it upon himself to find out.
The engine of Strife's motor bike roared to life. A few seconds of teleport-dashing later, he placed himself right between the dragon and the blarf just as the dragon was charging at it with teeth and claws at hand.
"Purple means stop!" he shouted while jumping into the air, landing on the bottom portion of the dragon's mouth, and swinging his bike at the inside of its throat while once again attempting to chainsaw it with the front wheel. The stunt would probably turn him into a meal, but he was filled with so much bloodlust and lack of fear that he didn't care.
