I want to try something different with the board games. I started Magic TG, but I also want to try something more like Warhammer or Dungeon and Dragons. That said, I would try those two but they seem to have TOO many rules xD
Anyone has any idea about any other games, them being board games or table-top or pencil and paper or something else? Or even any made-up games on the internet which involve some sort of object and goal to accomplish? SOMETHING? Even well-known live-action games, which I probably don't know xDD
Thanks =DD I really want to try something different!

Well, do you go to local comic book shops to play Magic? You could ask fellow Magic players or the shop owner if they host other game events, and then try those out. Because it'd be no fun to get into a game if no one around you plays. ^^;; Plus, that way you can get first-hand experience at how to play it. :3
And maybe you can look up if there are any local LARPs (Live action role play) running in your area, though those have less of a game orientation and more of a story orientation, depending on the LARP.

Finding the right game master for Warhammer or D&D can help you a lot to figuring out the issues with rules, though I do admit...it's daunting. 3rd Edition more than 4th, because that game is incredibly simple, though is all about fighting (like Warhammer). I prefer the complications to 3rd myself, if just because I dislike all fighting. But it's good to get outside your element now and then. Been playing D&D for so long at a consistent basis (2.5 years?), I may need a break at some point. it's good to keep things fresh, otherwise you're just going to feel bland about something that used to make you feel good. So...learn a little more outside your element. I'll catch up at some point, because in the now, I need to at least finish up this crazy campaign of mine.

Yes, my local comic shop also has people playing Warhammer...I should see them in action I guess, before jumping to conclusions And I highly doubt any LARP around my area...I should search for it, but I don't believe it is something new here, so I was looking for any new games to introduce to my friends. I will probably ask again my comic shop And what campaign are you talking about jacob? Is it a type of RPG?

Try going to your local hobby/comic bookstore and walking around to see what they have. They also often have a bulletin board somewhere with lists of groups that play those games, and contact numbers if you want to join them.
A lot of the D&D-type games and Magic trading card games are somewhat similar...if you know one you know the gist of them all. My hobby store up at college had Pokemon and Magic the Gathering tournaments/games, D&D (fourth edition) groups, Warhammer, Star Wars using D&D-esque rules, and I think they were also trying to get World of Warcraft D&D-esque games going.
As for the internet/computer...the entire Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale/Neverwinter Nights series were based on D&D rules (I don't think they translate so well to a computer game), but except for NWN, those aren't multi-player. MMOs like World of Warcraft an Everquest can sometimes be a good place to look if you're interested in the RP aspect (though in WoW in particular, watch out for griefers). There's also MUDs (don't ask me what they are, I don't understand them that much) and stuff roleplayed out on message boards, but I don't know of any in particular.

There's also MUDs (don't ask me what they are, I don't understand them that much) A MUD (Stands for multi user dungeon) is a text-based multiplayer RPG. Do you remember games like Zork? It's like that, only larger and more complicated. It works a lot like everquest or wow, only there are descriptions of your surroundings/monsters/players instead of pictures. Achaea is one of the biggest and oldest. They are now calling themselves a text based MMO, which is kinda true, but they're still a MUD. Back on Topic: Have you tried munchkin? There are a lot of self contained, pick up and play sorts of games like Munchkin, Kobolds Ate My Baby, Give Me the Brain, etc. I know I'm forgetting a big one. : / Illuminati? I haven't played it, but it's well regarded.

No Teow, I haven't tried any of those, I will also look into them, thanks! Do you need anything special for them? Or can you play them any place any time? As far as I can tell, they all expect you to have pencilsand paper. Some supply their own dice, and a few require you to bring your own pair of 6Ds (6 sided dice).

Being Scar's girlfriend, and Scar being a fabulous RPGer, I can say that the following would be very fun and without too many rules.
Dragon Age (the system looks very simple and the people I'm playing with now are all really loving it.)
Shadowrun ... I didn't get a chance to play this but it looked quite fun. Not my usual cup of tea with all its technology and dark aura but an interesting and diverse concept nonetheless.
Fafhrd and the Gray Mouser is a largely freeform game that's more focused on the actual story than most other RPGs I've heard of. The system is facepalmingly simple and, if you get the right group of perverts to play with, it can be utterly hilarious.
I'll prod Scar to post here when he wakes up, since he's much more experienced than I am. =D *bleats in a newbie-ish way*

[glow=red,2,300]Nobilis didn't have too many rules. It's a pen-and-paper where you get to play as god-like personifications. The character creation is unique and there's a ton of wiggle room. It's kinda how I imagined the tabletop RPG to be before all the dice. Of course, I never got more than a session in, so I didn't get to do all the shiny high-end stuff.
I agree that Shadowrun is also shiny. <3
I also highly recommend forum-based post-RPs. I'm in the middle of a couple right now, and if you can get a group of creative people who can think outside the box, these can get really epic. [/glow]

Well if it's rules light games you're looking for I can think of several you can try ^_^ Savage Worlds is a pretty simple game system with lots of support and lots of world settings to it (though you're recommended to make your own because it was designed to be modded). The game fits any genre but works best with pulp fiction or fantasy. Do note that it requires the standard custom dice set (4-sided, normal 6-sided, 8-sided, 10-sided and finally 12-sided) for your stats and to determine success/failure and such but apart from that you're good to go. And yes it does cost money BUT 1) It's quite affordable and 2) The Test Drive rules are free of charge and contain most of the rules you need ^_^ Also I think I'll mention that the Serenity Roleplaying Game, based on the cult classic Firefly TV show, uses the Cortex system that is similar in many ways to Savage Worlds. They're like cousins so if you know how to play one, you know how to play the other x3 It's also used in the Battlestar Galactica, Demon Hunters, Smallville, Supernatural and Leverage RPG as a FYI (Yes, they're all TV shows, I know xD) Prose Descriptive Qualities or PDQ is another light and easy game system. Unlike other game systems, you make up your own primary statistics and assign points to them to show how good your character is at it. To determine success or failure you roll 2 6-sided dice. Nice and simple plus free to boot. Some amusing settings books are available for purchase (Like 'Ninja, Monkey, Pirate, Robot: The RPG' for example xD) but it's completely optional ^^ As mentioned above by the lovely Sarn, the Dragon Age RPG is a easy to learn game system that, unlike the video game it's based on, has much simpler mechanics in the spirit of 'old school' roleplaying games. Also, while it's available for purchase online as a PDF, a boxset is also sold that includes the dice you need as well as the rulebooks (also a pretty poster map :3). Do note however that since the video game is a trilogy and Bioware hasn't fully released part 2 and 3, the rules so far cover only the basics of the game (for example, you can only level up till level 5). It's still very playable, mind, but if you're looking for a complete set you need to wait until boxset 2 and 3 is released. Also note, unlike the video game, the RPG is -not- rated Mature xD You mentioned D&D before. Rules too complex you say? Never fear for Castles & Crusades might just be your cup of tea. Blending both the simple rules of Basic D&D (the very 1st D&D edition) with the streamlined rules of D&D 3rd edition, you get a sort of middle ground that make sthe game easy to get into and still balanced. Also the abbreviation is amusing to me. (C&C ... D&D ... geddit? xD) Of course, you'll need to get the custom dice sets (4-, 6-, 8-, 12-, 20-sided dice) as well as the rulebooks but I recommend it if you want to give Dungeons and Dragons a try. I think I've gone on too long so I'll shut up about roleplaying games xD As for board/card games, Teow mentioned Munchkin which is awesome fun but best if played with lots of people. Also the cards are so funny xD I haven't played many board games sadly but I have played Descent and the WoW Adventure Game and they were pretty good so yeah ^^

And I highly doubt any LARP around my area...I should search for it, but I don't believe it is something new here, so I was looking for any new games to introduce to my friends. I know of one LARP system that is related to the one I play (if just because we play by an alternate set of rules) called IFGS, and they have a wide branch of locations across USA (forget if they have anything outside, and can't check because the site seems to be down while posting). And what campaign are you talking about jacob? Is it a type of RPG? Was speaking of my own personal D&D 3.5 campaign (a long...long adventure instead of just single ones). Been going on for a year and a half now. They are at Level 11...they need to get to 20.
