That sounds like a fun idea to me. Only issue I have in mind: Some characters might be severely disadvantaged versus other characters. For example: A well-trained rogue melee human(-ish?) character versus a powerfully armored robot whose "skin" can deflect all blows from the other character would create a looming advantage over the rogue. (There are probably better examples out there, but hey.) Would the tournament take that into account in some way? (I'm still in hiatus, but maybe it's something I'd consider when summer starts.) True, there are things like that. I'm not sure what to do about leveling that a bit right now. Magic could be used to make it a bit more even (like a charm cast on a fighter which makes their dagger affect the robot as it would a regular human, etc.)? If anyone's still interested in this, you're not too late to post, I just also want to ask when this tournament could take place. What would be the most convenient times for you all?

Well, random interjection here, but I would be willing to join in.
Is there a limit to the number of characters one could enter into the tournament?

I realize we're not supposed to really converse on this thread, but it's been dead for ages, and I think this would be the best place to post about the idea: a tournament between characters. Would you guys be interested in this type of thing? The duels could take place here or on Skype, just so long as the end result was posted. The only rules would be "no godmoding" and possibly a time limit to keep duels from taking longer than a few days- meaning magic and anything your strongest characters can throw out goes. Anyway, please post here if you'd be interested, it's a thing I thought we might be able to do. That sounds cool. Progenitors will not be participating.

I won't be able to participate until it's after May 10th. Finals season is coming up and I'm being hit over the head with last minute exams and projects like a sledgehammer. I wouldn't want to be the reason for delay, which is quite possible if I were to win and start going up in the ranks. :Y *Shrug*

Technically, I'm done with everything after about the 14th (got some events to go to after exams), but I don't have to be the first to duel either. As for the leveling, the first thing that came to my mind was having separate brackets of participants/winners. But enchanting might work. (Well, assuming that the characters don't have something against magic. xD But I don't know of any off the top of my head that would really object.)

Alright... No answer about times from a few yet, so I'll have to assume that any time works? Scheduling each fight will be important.

Alright, guys, here's what I want you to do. Please send me a PM with the characters you'll be entering, and with a short description of their species, abilities, etc. Last thing I'll pester you all to do before I'll start organizing the tournament, I promise.

Today is the very last day I will accept entries to the tournament. I have gotten a few entries where it was not posted on the thread that they wanted to join but instead they sent me a PM with the characters they'd like to enter, so... If you still want to join, send me a PM.

Triple post? A new record! And finally, after ages of laziness preparation, the tournament begins! Though I attempted to organize it so that physical attackers would likely be pitted against physical attackers and magical attackers would likely be pitted against magical attackers, the arena can be chosen by the writers beforehand! The arenas that can be chosen are as follows: - For primarily magical duels [/li][li] Indoor Arena- For primarily physical duels, with restrictions on magic [/li][li] Water Arena- A water-filled arena with two small bits of land, for aquatic characters and just for derps in general [/li][li] Ballistics Arena- Similar to the outdoors arena, but aimed towards duels involving guns, vehicles (even tanks!), and less magic [/li][/ul] Now, just one last note, here's some rules and things to remember:- Each duel can take no longer than 48 hours in real time from when it begins, just to prevent one duel from taking much longer than the
others and holding waiting contestants up.
- Powerful magics have leveled the playing field enough that all attacks will affect another contestant as it would a normal human unless a shield has been raised or something. I do not mean that armor is not allowed to be used, but if a character literally can not be hurt by guns, magic, etc... Well, they can be now.
- Please do not godmode. (Not that I'm thinking you guys will, you're all better than that. Just use common sense and dice rolls if you have to for determining when your character will finally be KO'd. Same goes for using dice rolls to determine if your character will be hit by an attack.)
- Duels can take place on Skype or on this The Character Arena thread specifically. I'll PM both contestants when it's their turn to begin and they can choose where to RP it, which arena, etc. Should a duel take place on Skype, the result will be posted here.
Basically, just relax, use common sense, and have some fun dueling. Like I said, I'll send a PM to those who are going up first. And the first duel to be written will be Jinzo vs Sarah.
